FAQs

Question

Any dietary restrictions or food allergies (including nut allergies, gluten, vegetarian, vegan, etc.)?

Answer

Please reach out to Katherine via text, phone, or email if you have dietary needs to pass on to the caterers. We want to make sure everyone has something to munch on! Phone: 678-429-7860 Email: kmorley@moranreevesconn.com

Question

Are kids allowed?

Answer

Respectfully, we request that the kiddos stay home. But we can arrange babysitters in Richmond or in a separate room at the Reception at the Estate at River Run. Please let us know if you need help arranging a sitter, or if you’d like to be included in the babysitting group.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes, it is Black Tie Optional. Cocktail or formal dresses for women. Dark suits or tuxedos for men.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception? Is there transportation to and from the ceremony to the reception?

Answer

There are street parking spots directly next to the Cathedral, and there are VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) parking decks nearby that the Cathedral uses on weekends for its services. The Estate at River Run reception venue has a parking lot, but we strongly recommend that you use the buses that we’ll provide to take you to and from the church and the reception.

Question

Can vehicles be left overnight at the Estate at River Run?

Answer

Yes. Should anyone need to leave a car at River Run, they can be picked up at any point on Sunday. There is extra space on the shuttles back to Richmond as well.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony and the wedding processional will begin promptly at 2:00 pm, when the doors will be closed. So we encourage folks to arrive at least 20-25 prior to have enough time to find a seat. Catholic masses start on time!

Question

Catholic Mass Ceremony? What do I need to know?

Answer

Yes, the ceremony will be a full Catholic mass and we encourage all our guests to attend and participate to the extent they are comfortable. There will be Programs that will give you cues on the kneeling, sitting, standing, joint prayers, hymns, and most mass parts. As St. Augustine said "[t]o sing is to pray twice." So feel free to join in on the singing (it's my favorite part). And we encourage all non-Catholics to come up to the alter during communion for a blessing, simply cross your arms across your chest (in a "x" shape) and the priest or eucharistic minister will give you a blessing. Any other specific questions, just ask!

Question

Can we use cellphones or take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

In order to preserve the sanctity of the Wedding Mass, please silence your cell phones and refrain from using them while in the Church.

Question

Will it be cold?

Answer

Thankfully everything is inside so the weather won't be too impactful for the activities. BUT it is winter in Virginia, so it could be truly any temperature, so please pay attention to the weather and dress accordingly. That means layers, layers, layers.

Question

COVID-19, is that still a thing?

Answer

Sorta kinda, yes. But we do ask folks to be safe and respectful by being vaccinated and boosted. We strongly encourage folks to get tested before the wedding weekend to keep everyone safe too!
