How We Met

First we met then it was forever

Josh just moved to Hillsville and him and his brother were on the bus route that I rode to school. My first impression was that he was a scary guy that I did not want anything to do with. But through the years, he began to open up on the bus. He made bus rides enjoyable. When you could hear Josh laughing at the back of the bus, you knew that your afternoon would be great. Secretly though, throughout the three years on the bus together, me and josh had a crush on each other but we did not know it and of course we did not tell each other either. Although, we both did tell his brother about it but he kept this information to himself.

Our First Date

At the time of our first date, I was still in high school and Josh had just recently started at Burger King. We had spent weeks talking on the phone, riding in the car, and texting throughout the day. We figured we would officially go on a date. My favorite restaurant is Japanese's Hibachi food. Therefore, Josh knew that this is expensive food so he went to game stop and took all of his games and traded them in for cash. He knew that I was scared of others driving, therefore he drove slow and made sure I felt safe. Instead of telling me that he was short on cash, he took the money from selling his games and any other money he could find and took me on this date. He kept saying "Order whatever you want." and "You look beautiful". Josh was a complete gentlemen. Come to find out in the future, Josh's least favorite food is hibachi.

How we Started Dating

November 30th, 2015

While this is how we met, we did not become close until he started to work at Burger King with me. We became close co-workers. With Josh not having a car, I would give him rides home every night. This is where we started to realize that this feeling was not just butterflies but something real. We would work side by side during the day and goofing off and laughing to the radio at night. After 9 months of realizing our feelings were real, we started officially dating in 2015.

Living Together

We have been fortunate enough to have always lived together throughout the past 5 years. In all honesty, this has made our relationship stronger. It started off with him living on our couch, to moving into a bedroom at my dad's house and paying rent. Then after a year of me going off to college, he joined me for a year at the university while he was living in a campus owned apartment. Then my senior year, we moved off campus into our first apartment where we adopted our first cat, Kiki. Recently, we have stayed in the same area but got a bigger apartment and another cat, Jasmine. Living together has been a treasure and allowed us to know each other on different levels at different parts of our lives.

He Asked, She said Yes!

November 30th 2019

November 30th is a special day for us. That was the day we started dating. On this special night we were celebrating our 4th year anniversary. A friend of ours was joking that tonight would be the perfect night for Josh to propose because we had recently be talking about rings. Therefore, I did not wear my promise ring that night. Josh noticed this at dinner and ask why. This is when I told him about the hunch that Carly had. We laughed and Josh said he didn't have a ring even if he wanted to propose. After dinner, I paid for the meal and we went to the car. It started to rain and it was cold. With Josh being a Assistant at Regal Cinameas, he continuously is on his phone, which is why I was not shocked why we were waiting in the car long. I turn to ask Josh if we are heading home and he has a ring box in his hand. I start to ugly cry because I think he is going to ask me. Josh being the joker that he is, said nope, sorry. I am not proposing. Therefore I begin to really cry because he pulled such an awful prank. He then proceeds to pull out the real ring and said "Just kidding. Katelynn Amelia LaCombe, will you marry me?". This is when I punch him in the arm and say yes. Although this is not a usual proposal, he caught me by surprise which is the only thing I could ever ask.
