This whole adventure began at a friend named Aaron's house when we were both invited over for a game night. Kate had just transferred to SHSU and her sister, Kyndal, had told Aarons now wife, Amanda, about her and they decided to invite her over. This group of friends just happened to be Wesley's group of best friends too. That night, the two casually met and didn't think too much of it but after a night of playing games, hanging out, and usually non-stop laughing at each other, a strong friendship began to form.

After a few game nights, volleyball nights, hanging out with mutual friends, and being involved in the same campus ministry, Wesley and Kate saw each other as great friends. Wesley and Kate began to hang out together, and Welsey decided to ask Kate out. Of course, Kate said yes, and Wesley planned their first date. Since the couple loves the outdoors, Wesley took Kate on a 7-mile hike at the Huntsville State Park. The date was going great as the two laughed and talked, but the date turned south when it started pouring down rain. The couple laughed and finished the hike in the rain, and then after Wesley had set up a picnic in Kate's apartment. Wesley says to this day, he knew it was meant to be because, after the long hike in the pouring rain, Kate never complained or stopped smiling.

After a year filled with fun, laughter, and much prayer that this relationship was not only their desire but God's will, Wesley decided it was time to ask Kate to be his wife. After they had come back from Project Galveston, Welsey started planing the ultimate proposal. He had made several secret trips to Sugarland to get the ring and all he had left was to ask her. He decided to do this through a scavenger hunt throughout Huntsville of different places important to their relationship. On the day of the proposal, Kate received a note at her work saying that her hunt would begin at where we met, Aaron's old house. Upon arriving there, she was happily surprised to see Wesleys Brother and Sister-in-law, Cory & Annie, there to give her the next hint. From there, she went to the sand volleyball courts and sonic where some of their closest friends waited to give the next clue. The last clue led her to the State Park where our first date was. As she arrived, she ran (literally) to Wesley and he asked her to dance to one of their favorite Cody Johnson songs. Wesley then stopped the song, got down on one knee, and asked Kate to marry him. Of course, she said yes!
