Hello, friends & family! We are aware that the situation of COVID-19 is changing daily, to include the date in which it is safe for the public to return to normal daily life. We are still holding out hope that we can enjoy our wedding day with all of you on June 27th! Our plan is to decide whether or not to postpone on May 15th, which is when invitations for our planned date would be sent out. We will be sending out an email around May 15th to let you all know our final decision. Our goal is to keep everyone as updated as we can! Thank you all for thinking of us during this chaotic time & thank you for bearing with us as we try to make the best of this situation! You all are in our hearts & on our minds. God is GOOD! Please feel free to reach out at any time with questions or if you just want to chat! :)
I noticed Luke as soon as I met him. After we started getting to know each other, I found out that we share the same birthday, so I had a friend find out Luke's favorite candy, which was the oh-so-delicious Butterfinger. I gave him the candy as a late birthday present, and guess who didn't pick up the hint... Luke! A little while later I got a notification on my phone that I had a friend request on Facebook. "Lucas Slaughter" appeared on my phone and I immediately accepted it. As I stalked his page, I noticed that it had absolutely nothing on it. No friends, no photos, no posts. It dawned on me that he made a Facebook profile just to friend me! A couple weeks of casual flirting and fleeting glances went by when I finally realized that the ball was in my court. So in a temporary moment of courage, I messaged him on Facebook saying that I had an extra ticket to a function called Uncle BYX that features swing dancing & pancakes. I watched as he read the message and didn't respond for ELEVEN MINUTES. I was so nervous. Thankfully, this was the moment that Luke finally caught the hint. He arranged for us to meet on his floor, so he could drive us to the event. As soon as I walked off the elevator, I saw Luke standing there and behind him were several guys with their heads stuck out of their doorways winking at me! At the end of the date as he was dropping me off at my car, he invited me on a second date scheduled for two days later. He just couldn't wait! And the rest is history...
