Cork Harbour
Enjoy gazing at the water from one of the restaurants, piers, or parks along Cobh’s waterfront – Cork Harbour is the second-largest natural harbour in the world. Steeped in history, the harbour is famous for its natural beauty and discreet man-made military fortifications.
Fota Gardens
We highly recommend taking a walk in the arboretum & manicured gardens of the 19th-century estate.
Fota Wildlife Park
In close proximity to the resort, Fota Wildlife Park is not like an ordinary zoo. In addition to the wonderful array of free-roaming animals, visitors can see highly endangered species such as the Rothschild giraffe, European Bison, Lion Tailed Macaque, and Scimitar Horned Oryx most of them without the obstacle of fenced-in exhibits.
Titanic Trail
The Titanic Trail will walk you step-by-step through the journey of those who arrived in Cobh to depart Ireland on the Titanic, including paying a visit to the pier that the ship left from.
Spike Island
Many centuries ago, a monastery existed on Spike Island–but its more recent history is a bit less pleasant. A military fort, and later a prison, existed on this island in the Cobh Harbour, most famously as a holding cell of sorts of convicts leaving Ireland with a punishment of “transportation”–in other words, being shipped off to Australia or the like. Today, you can easily add a visit to Spike Island to your list of things to do in Cobh and learn all about the island’s many diverse uses over the centuries, while also enjoying some lovely views.
Wild Atlantic Way
Create an unforgettable holiday by going on a road-trip along the Wild Atlantic Way. This will take some planning and at least five days of your time.
