In September of 2017, both Dylan and Katelyn worked at the 13th Gate Haunted House. It was Dylan’s first year and Katelyn’s 5th year. One night walking to the cars, Dylan realized that he locked his keys in his truck. Him and his friends tried everything just short of breaking the window to retrieve his keys. Katelyn overheard the commotion, stepped in and pleaded for him to let her please call pop-a-lock before punching out his window. He agreed and that day they became friends. If we’re going to be COMPLETELY honest here, Katelyn slightly annoyed Dylan at first. She was supper bubbly and energetic and that was a little too much for Dylan, but she eventually grew on him. As a group they’d hang out almost every other weekend and eventually they became very good friends.

From 2018-2019, Dylan and Katelyn, along with two other friends, became roommates. Katelyn was working for American Airlines at the Baton Rouge Airport when one day she received a job offer from the Savannah-Hilton Head Airport in Georgia. She however knew that she couldn’t do a move like this alone. She told Dylan about her job offer and without hesitation he said he’d go to Georgia with her. An opportunity of a life time to find themselves. In July of 2019 they moved into their first apartment as roommates in Pooler, GA. Within just a few months, they indeed did begin to find themselves. But what they didn’t realize, is that they’d find themselves within each other. September of 2019 they became boyfriend and girlfriend.

Christmas of 2022 Dylan and Katelyn planned to visit home in Louisiana. They were last home in October of that year. Seeing friends and family for Christmas was everything. December 21, 2022 they visited Katelyn’s family on their little Christmas tree farm, Kringlewood. While Katelyn was inside visiting with her grandmother, Dylan stepped outside to set the scene. He returned to collect Katelyn and asked her to take a picture with him out in the Christmas trees. What a wonderful idea! Katelyn’s heart smiled. They walked through the field of trees while picking out the perfect tree to take a picture with when Katelyn realized there was an ornament on a tree. As she leaned in closer and glanced she realized the ornament read “Mr. and Mrs. Boyd?”. With shock she looked back at Dylan to find him on one knee holding the most stunning diamond engagement ring she’d ever laid eyes on. Dylan asked Katelyn to become his wife. And she said YES! Unbeknownst to Katelyn, Dylan began planning the proposal from their last visit in October when he asked her parents for her hand in marriage.
