Collins and Katelyn reconnected during the wedding weekend of their good friends Rachel and Max Van Vleet. As a group of former Hoos returned back to the streets of Charlottesville, Collins and Katelyn's shared friends (yes you, Michael and Ashley!) nudged the two of them to spend some time together. At a group outing to Three Notch'd the afternoon before the wedding, Katelyn and Collins only had eyes for each other and their in-depth conversation about sea life documentaries. This resulted in the rebranding of the group outing as their "public first date." Collins officially asked Katelyn to have dinner with him a few nights later at Continental Divide, which turned into a second date the next night at Marigold, and then a "lightning strike" week where the two hung out every night until Katelyn conveniently missed her flight home. Once Katelyn returned to Brooklyn, the two never went longer than two weeks without visiting each other. They spent the next year and a half across New York and Charlottesville enjoying New York slices, Cou Cou croissants, Threes IPAs, and Joe's cold brew. Collins and Katelyn took a leap of faith and moved to LA together in 2025 where they've never taken for granted how wonderful it is to do life together each day.
