Brandon and Katelyn met online in 2021. Brandon's profile included a picture showcasing his rendition of the Bob Ross painting "Golden Rays of Sunshine." Katelyn marked this photo with a like, and the rest is history. For their first date, Brandon took Katelyn on a walk along Lake Michigan. He first surprised her with a warm cup of hot chocolate on the breezy spring day. Brandon and Katelyn's walk was not intended to be as long as it was, but the conversation was so easy and comfortable, they didn't want to stop talking. They both shared all of the things that made them happy, including the many different video games they both enjoy. Starting at Blue Harbor Resort, Brandon and Katelyn walked almost all the way to Vollrath park before realizing that they should turn around. After this first date, Brandon and Katelyn were almost inseparable. Their time together was spent playing video games, like Pokemon and Luigi's Mansion 3, cuddling with Josie Bean, long walks, and tons of laughter. On December 15, 2025, Katelyn came home from work and heard the Kingdom Hearts main theme "Dearly Beloved" playing in the living room. When she put her work bag away and hung her coat back on the hook, she turned to find that Josie Bean, Brandon and Katelyn's beloved dog, had a ring box attached to her collar. Katelyn turned to find Brandon on one knee, both he and Josie promising a forever filled with love and laughter.
