Charlotte Douglas Int'l Airport + Roanoke Regional Airport
Both airports are about 1.5-2 hours away. Keep in mind that the roads are windy and cell reception spotty. It might be smart to save some directions to your phone just in case. There may be others flying too, so there are possible carpooling opportunities. Just be sure to let me know if you are taking it to the sky so I can connect you with other flyers.
Some ideas on what to toss in your bag
Think of this as a weekend in the mountains with a highlight, semi-formal event. We don't expect to see suits and heels, but we gon' get classy on Friday. For Saturday, think yard games and playing in the creek while sporting the digs that reveal your true self. For me, that's probably some gems, a sparkly outfit, and maybe a tutu with bring-on-the-dirt tennies. -appropriate footwear -headlamp -layers -sunscreen -your fav game -a wig or festival wear (ya heard) -bathing suit -if you're a snacker, snacks -if driving, a cooler and camp chair
Things you should know about the property
Firstly, this place is absolutely gorgeous and peaceful. There's a babbling brook, mountain views, and wildflowers galore. That being said, the ground might be rocky, rooty, lumpy, holey, slippery, muddy, ....uneven, unpredictable, and unbiased. We really do not want anyone to get hurt so know your limits, bring a headlamp, and wear appropriate footwear (pointy heels not recommended). -prepare to be outdoors for the majority of the time -there is a steep incline from the upper cabin (where there are some beds) to the lower deck (where the festivities will be happening) -the only nearby store is the Dollar General -there are two bathrooms in the upper cabin and one bathroom down below -Rocko Taco Tuesday Stutterheim Jackson may be running around loose
Justin and Emily be cookin' up some feasts
Without many conveniences nearby, we will be doing our best to provide ya'll with some good eats. Starting Thursday night with a nice dinner at the golf club, through Sunday's breakfast, we will have you covered for the 3 main meals each day and a bunch of basic snacks. There may be an instance where you have to toss a dog or veg burg on the grill or dive into the snack bin yourself, but got you covered. Huge shout out to Justin and Emily for coming up with some delish and inclusive options and being the hottest chef couple in the northern hem. We luh you.
