It wasn't quite love at first sight in the traditional sense, with the boom bang pow of fireworks and passion. It was our friendship that grew us closer to each other over the years. We first met in Mr. Ayers remedial math class in 8th grade at La Colina Jr. High. We would joke and laugh, and Andrew would copy Katelyn's homework. Our mutual friend would have all the homies over to her beautiful house and that is where our fondness grew for each other. Secretly he had a crush on Katelyn, but she was blind to the fact. Flash forward through many math classes and inside jokes, Andrew texted Katelyn in February of 2012, just to say hi, and that is when the doorway to our future really opened. March 25th, 2012, Andrew took Katelyn on a romantic date to see 21 Jump Street followed by a gourmet dinner of Taco Bell and asked the million dollar question: "Would you want to be my lady?" From then on, we have been by each others side. We have laughed the most boisterous belly laughs, and cried the most vulnerable of tears with one another. We have journeyed inwards to grow as individuals so that we could come together and really show up for each other. We have bonded over our love of music, pets, sunsets, and our beloved friends and family. We have shown each other new possibilities for what life has to offer, expanding on what it means to truly be alive on this Earth together. And here we are, almost 10 years later, our love has grown to the depths of the sea. We have had many trials and tribulations that brought us together as a stronger unit and made us recognize how lucky we are to have such a special bond. There is no one else we would rather be doing life with than each other. We are best friends first, always.
