Thank You

It’s been a beautiful 8 years of dating, studying, and planning! We are so thrilled to finally get to say “I do!” We can only really thank God for his guidance, correction, and love these past years. And of course, all our friends and family who have supported and loved us! We are so excited to have you all see us get married, despite all the panic that is going on right now in the world! We love and appreciate you all!!

Her Story

We caught each other’s eyes during my first year at Pierce Middle School. However, Alec was with someone already. Later during that school year, Alec and the rest of the swim team started riding my bus (it would take them to the high school pool.) I would always get excited to see him, and we would catch a conversation or two, then I would have to get off the bus. Nothing ever came from those conversations. Soon time went on and I finally entered High School. Alec was in a grade up from me, so I would pass him in the school hallways, unfortunately, he was dating someone! In my sophomore year, I had Algebra 2, it was dreadful because I hate math...but that all changed when Alec came through the doors the first day and sat down next to me. I remember telling myself I should stop keep dressing in sweats! Then I remembered all those times on the bus crushing over him and waiting for him to talk to me. It was not later I found out he was also single! Time went on, nothing happened between us, I even thought of giving up on him. I thought he just wasn’t interested, until one day after school I got a Facebook message from him. (I still have that conversation saved) I remember my heart was racing, we talked for what almost felt like 5 hours that night. He became my best friend. Then eventually as that year went on, we confessed that we had feelings for each other. But I wanted to wait till the school year was up before I decided to date him. Alec ended up going to my house and asked my parent if he could date me. And the rest was history. Being with Alec has been such a blessing, in the ups and downs, he has always shown me his passion to stay committed and to love me as much as he could. And I couldn’t think of anyone else I would want to spend my life with.

His Story

How we met The first time I saw Katie was when I was in the 7th grade. I would pass by her during the day, but never had the courage to talk to her. I mean come on, I was an awkward skater kid at the time and she is a cutie! My first small talk conversation was on the bus. I was on the swim team at the time, so I took the same bus she did because my practices were at the high school. I don’t remember what it was, but those few words took a lot for me to say. I found out from a friend what her name was, so I tried to message her on MySpace (Hahaha). She posted some drawings on there and I thought they were really good, and a good way to spark a conversation. That was the first and only time I talked to Katie. From there, I went through a few short-lived relationships and one I thought that would last. Around then I had discovered a new faith in God through the help of my friends Josh and Travis. This opened my eyes to how I viewed life and even relationships. Through this drastic change in my life, I ended my long term high school relationship. In the new season of singleness I went through some rough patches, but out of it came the reintroduction of Katie Cheng. Wait, you mean the same girl from the bus in 2007? Yes, she’s the one! We ended up in the same Algebra 2 class and did not sit far from each other, which was exciting and scary all at the same time. Through the help of Katie's best friend Nina, she connected us and helped spark the relationship you all see today. On June 13th, 2012. I had asked Katie's parents if I could be her boyfriend. I wanted to do things right because I knew that she was something special. On September 11th, 2020 I asked Katie to be my wife, and it was the best and most important decision that I was going to make in my life. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
