We met in 2013 but were both with different people then so we hardly even spoke. We connected again years later in 2020, during a pandemic no doubt. He made the first move and added me on Facebook of all places. After a few likes back and forth of different pictures and statuses he messaged me and asked to take me on a date. It didn’t seem like much of a date at the time because all we could really do was get some carry out and eat at the Riverwalk, but it was magical. We sat and talked for hours about our lives and what we had been through and what we wanted in life and that is where our story started.

This story is one of my favorites. We were kid free for the night and I was coming home a little later than usual but as I pulled into the garage I noticed none of the inside lights were on. When I walked in the front door I realized the house was lit by candlelight and the song “Butterflies” was playing on the Amazon Alexa and there he was standing there just as perfect as could be. We started to dance around the room and we were both all smiles. After the song was over he gave me a gift bag and told me to open it. Inside the bag was the sweetest and most thoughtful gift I have ever received. It was a ring with three stones on it. Those three stones represented the birthstones of our three babies. That night he asked me to be his girlfriend and the rest is history.

It was the Saturday after Thanksgiving and we had scheduled to take some Christmas card pictures with our little family. To be honest, I didn’t think he really wanted to do it but was just doing it to appease me. Little did I know, he had BIG plans. There we were in downtown Northport in our matching buffalo plaid taking some awesome pictures and as the photographer said “ok guys this is the last one” and Mason got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said YES!
