They were first colleagues. Then friends. Then long-distance friends. Kate would text Zach. Zach would text back a week later. He Facetimed her from Copenhagen. She Facetimed him from Ghana. He from Miami. Then she from Bali. But then, one day, he Facetimed her from San Diego, with a fresh haircut and a sun kissed face and she thought, "Uh ohh...." And from that moment on, everything changed. Zach would text Kate a song recommendation, Kate would read into the lyrics as if he was sending her a coded message. But even when Kate sent Zach, Phil Collin's "Against All Odds," Al Green's "Let's Stay Together," and Etta James' "At Last," Zach didn't pick up on the cues and simply replied "classics...nice." Back and forth they went, for 9 months, with music being their shared love language. To Kate, Zach wasn't making a move. To Zach, he was playing the "long con." Kate decided that she would need to be the one to make the move, but was too scared to do so. And then one day, with Bon Iver playing in the background, a move was made. And then on another day, with Hans Zimmer playing in the background, they decided that they wanted to move forward in life together and to get married. BUT...then a global pandemic hit, and they decided to delay getting married, twice. And now a global pandemic is still going on and they decided that they should probably just move forward with getting married. So they are getting married. But not until November.
