Kate & Patrick met the night of August 25th, 2018. Patrick was celebrating the end of his men's league soccer season with his fellow teammates at Tonawanda Bowling Center. Kate was also invited to said bowling alley that same night, but for another reason - it was her best friend, and future Matron of Honor, Angela's, 25th birthday. Angela, at the time, was dating (and is now married to) one of Patrick's teammates, Joel. Funny enough, just days before that night, Angela told Kate, "You have to come to the party this weekend. You have to meet Pat Carr, he's so nice!" Kate was *this close* to not going out that night as she felt awful after catching a Summer cold, but, she couldn't let her bestie and future husband down! They eventually met face to face, Kate broke the ice with a couple jokes (classic) about his friend's shorts that had cars on them ("Should be called cargo shorts, eh?" & to Patrick, "Shouldn't you be wearing those shorts?" because his last name is Carr...get it? Well, he found her funny! After a long night of Kate DD'ing everyone around, and after many attempts of trying to catch Patrick's attention from across the bar, they eventually connected on the outdoor patio of The Burning Buffalo on Hertle Ave. It is subject to interpretation as to who was the REAL match maker of that night - Angela, for being born on the day of the Big Green soccer party, OR the team's captain, Sean, for talking Patrick up to Kate SO much (he might have over-embellished his accomplishments on behalf of his buddy, what a guy). But they ended up connecting, taking a walk around the block to chat/get to know one another, and ended that night with Kate being bold and saying, "So we should exchange numbers" to which Patrick replied, silly grin on his face, "That would be really cool." And the rest is history :)
