Our Love Story

I knew Mason from high school and church through mutual friends. He would probably say it was because he was a “high school superstar” as a sports reporter on the school news… and we’ll just let him believe that. I decided to join the church choir, and about a year later, Mason joined too. We quickly became friends and even got paired up in our ensemble dance, Disney Dazzle. That’s when I realized I was starting to like him. It wasn’t the right time in our lives—COVID happened, and I headed off to Auburn. Throughout my first year there, I knew I still liked Mason. We kept in touch, but that was it. I remember talking to my mom about him, and I told her, “This is the boy I’m going to marry, so we have plenty of time.” Little did I know, I was spot on. After my first year at Auburn, I returned home to Madison for the summer. I saw Mason at church and kept chatting with him. Towards the end of the summer, he invited me to his graduation party. I was so excited to go and brought my now-maid-of-honor, Paige, with me. On the ride back, I told Paige I liked Mason and that I was going to try to hang out with him once he got to Auburn. Finally, we were both at Auburn, and it didn’t take long—less than a week—before we asked each other to hang out. I knew after that first time together that I had found my person. We went on our first official date, and Mason asked me to be his girlfriend. Three years later, after so much love, laughter, and even a few rough spots, Mason asked me to marry him. I will never forget the anticipation I felt in that season of life—I was so ready to start planning a wedding! I am so incredibly lucky to have found someone who accepts me for me, flaws and all. I truly am the luckiest girl in the world! We cannot wait to celebrate our love with all of our favorite people. - Kate
