Our Love Story

“We were both young when I first saw you I close my eyes and the flashback starts I feel the heat, Of the attic out on Phillips street” Our love story begins in the Spring of 2015 on the UMass campus in Amherst, MA. With close to 30,000 students on campus, and over 5,000 underclassmen living in their freshmen living area, these two little needles shared a sizable haystack. But they also shared a magnetic attraction. As they acclimated to college life, and the Southwest grew a little smaller, they found themselves frequenting similar areas, and mutual friendships were formed. The needles were set on a collision course of inevitability. When their paths eventually crossed, the force was felt. If you think this is cliche now, wait until you hear how opposites attract. She was a hidden beauty. Despite her beautiful smile and bright eyes, she was quiet, and a bit awkward. He was unapologetically the loudest in the room, under a mop of curly hair (that she found anything but beautiful). She went to public high school on the (inferior) North Shore. He went to private high school on the (superior) south shore. She was girly and proper, he would wear the same clothes for days. What they don’t tell you about how opposites attract, is how the attraction can change them over time. Together, they were something different. Together, they represented both sides of each coin. They learned to understand perspectives contrary to their own. Together, they grew well-rounded. This young love continued to blossom with each laugh, tear, and embrace shared through the years. After college, they regularly traded off 90 minute drives north or south to be together. Though the distance was a new challenge for them both, it wouldn’t last long. In the fall of 2019, they moved into their first apartment on Kilsyth Road in Brighton, though they never quite figured out how to pronounce the street name, this little apartment served as their first shared living space for 2 years. If you’re wondering whether or not you can spend the rest of your life with a special someone, try moving in with them for the start of a global pandemic. With lemons, they made lemonade. They binged movies and shows, had 2-person sip-n-paint nights, sang, danced, and drank their way through quarantine together. Just as the years leading up, their love continued to grow with the time spent together. They continued to be a best friend, cheerleader, and support system for one another. There’s no way to tell what the future will bring, but if one thing is for certain, as the years pass, the love they share will continue to grow.❤️

For all the days along the way
