Thank you so much for being part of our special day! Check out the different tabs of our website to learn more about the schedule, travel logistics, and fun things to do around town. We so look forward to celebrating with you! While we do love all of the kiddos in our life, we ask that you leave your children at home unless they are explicitly mentioned on your invitation. If you have any questions, let us know! If you want to know a little more about how we got from our first date to today, read on below!
We connected online after Katy boldly slid into Kate's Instagram messages responding to a video about a snowy trek for mac and cheese. Our first date was a cold one! It was December 2020 and we were both heading home soon for the holidays, so didn't want to risk catching COVID from some internet stranger. So, we met at Cargo Coffee and, armed with warm beverages, went for a walk around town with masks on. It was icy, it was cold, but we ended up walking and talking for an hour and a half. We had a phone date and another outside, masks on date before we finally hung out inside. Our first inside, no masks date was perfect. We ordered ramen and watched Pride and Prejudice while Kate's roommate's dog cried the entire time. Quite romantic! Bonfires, movie dates, and many other adventures soon followed!
Spoiler alert: It was Katy. A few months into our relationship, Kate was making SPAM sandwiches and narrating every step in a silly voice, as one does when cooking for the love of their life. As the sandwiches were being finalized, Katy stared into Kate's eyes and said "I love you". Kate said it back and the rest is history.
Discussions of getting engaged began early in 2023, so Kate started ring shopping with one hint from Katy: get a blue stone. Months of searching and finally the perfect ring was discovered! She ordered it in July, thinking she'd hold onto it for a few months for a fall engagement. However, once the ring arrived, Kate couldn't wait and proposed the next day. After a busy start to the summer, we planned a picnic at James Madison Park, a common date night for us. Poke was purchased, picnic was set up, and the lake was giving a full-force dead fish smell that really set the mood. After a riveting discussion on student loans, Kate finally interrupted and popped the question! Katy was... flabbergasted. She didn't see it coming! Thankfully our friend Nathan was hiding in the bushes with a camera to capture the moment. She said yes (thankfully), and the wedding planning began!
