Our Story

Kate and Josh met in a bar… kind of. Kate was visiting family in Wisconsin and decided to go on the dating app, Hinge, with her location set to New York, and found Josh on day 4. They texted for three weeks and had practically planned their whole life out before Kate flew back to New York. They met as soon as they could - late on a Wednesday night. Kate was so nervous to meet him that she walked around the block a few times before going into the bar. Immediately, sparks flew and they shared an enthralling conversation while sipping on Shakespeare themed cocktails. Not wanting the date to end, but also realizing most places were closing down, they decided to grab pizza at a 24-hour spot and chatted away. Josh was so filled with excitement that he biked home 35 blocks at 2:00am. They quickly set up another date, two days later. Josh serenaded Kate with romantic songs after a picnic at a jazz concert, and won her heart with his family’s chili recipe. Kate tricked Josh into meeting her parents only two weeks after meeting in person, and Josh sent recurring calendar invites to Kate to make sure she would make the time for him with her busy schedule. “Josh night” on Monday and Thursday nights soon became daily dinner dates. They realized they were both a bit crazy, but at least they were crazy about each other. One Sunday, when deciding which game to play next, Kate exclaimed, “I love Yahtzee!” and Josh mistakenly heard, “I love you!” and, while flattered, was shocked it happened so early. Although the couple laughed it off, over the next few months the couple said “Yahtzee” to each other in heartfelt moments. One night after watching the Broadway Show, Chicago, Josh and Kate once again found themselves at a 24-hour restaurant - The Midnight Diner on the Upper East Side. Kate burst into happy tears at dinner, while Josh sat there confused, and a short while later the couple finally said those three little words. Since then, Kate and Josh have grown together and introduced each other to new experiences. Kate even convinced Josh to go bungee jumping off a bridge and try mountain climbing on their trip to Whistler! Over the past two years they have enjoyed spending time with both of their families in the northeast and the midwest. Finding Lulu, their lovely Pooton (Poodle and Coton de Tulear mix), turned dedicated plant parents into a loving family. Kate and Josh love spending time pampering their pup – even making an effort for the three of them to match outfits and get Lulu the silliest (and most durable) toys. Josh lovingly proposed to Kate at the Hallett Nature Sanctuary overlook in Central Park with only two minor interruptions - a homeless man creeping around in Josh’s blind spot and two screaming children. It was perfect. Kate and Josh are so excited to share this next stage of life together. To all of the family and friends helping to celebrate: Yahtzee!
