Javi and Kate met in 2019 while Javi was visiting as part of an internship program, and Kate was working in Terre Haute in between semesters of college. Their first date took place at Ritter's Frozen Custard, where they chatted over ice cream. Kate knew Javi was special that night when he suggested a spur of the moment late night run through the fountain at Indiana State University. The couple loves spending time with their two dogs, going to hockey games (go Rivermen!), and traveling. Some of their favorite memories together are the RV trips they have taken, visiting Dollywood, and walking into Canada together. Javi proposed to Kate during a trip to Chicago in 2024. In 2022, after Javi graduated medical school, the couple moved to Peoria, Illinois, for the next step of his medical training. Kate is working as a Kindergarten teacher. Javi will finish residency in the summer of 2026, and he is planning to apply to Pediatric Hospitalist fellowship programs. The adventure continues!
