We met in college through mutual friends. Eric asked one of Kate’s friends who the pretty lady was across the room at the infamous Cain & Abel's in Austin, Texas. Unfortunately, Kate was taken at that time, which led Eric to drink more Texas Teas. They stayed friends for a very long time until one day Kate demanded that they go out for a date at Pie Tap in Dallas and they’ve been together ever since.
Kate and Eric got engaged on New Year’s Eve in Palm Springs, California at the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage, a gorgeous hotel atop a mountain overlooking the city. Not even Gavin Newsom could stop Eric from executing his plan to ask Kate to marry him with the looming stay-at-home orders. When Eric got down on one knee, he quickly realized that the ring box was upside down, but of course Kate still said “yes.” After the proposal, Eric had one more surprise for Kate as he had invited some of Kate’s closest friends and their families to a dinner at the hotel where we rang in the New Year as an engaged couple.
We are so excited to celebrate with all of our favorite people! Thank you for being such a special part of our lives. We are thrilled for everyone to see Omaha, where Kate grew up, and cannot wait to be together.
