Pretty funny story. So after my first year of working at the University of Tulsa I wanted a new place to stay at. I looked online for cheap apartments and other places on Craigslist. I was hoping to find someone who was leasing their room for only a year at a decent price. I stumbled upon this lady who had a room open literally a mile from the University of Tulsa and I was like oh man thats a deal! So I messaged her and we ended up meeting eventually at 918 Coffee near my apartment. I decided to move in a week later. Our relationship at first was strictly business. We became really good friends after hanging out all the time & just living because what else do you do when you're staying with someone random? hahaha After a year of living together she started to express interest in me. Being the guy that I am i quickly curved her and said it wasn't happening because I thought this was supposed to be a business relationship. After about a month or two of back in forth we finally went on a date to the Tulsa State Fair. I was nervous and I started liking her. On that day I decided to hold her hand and then a few weeks later we made it official. Now here we are!
If you know me it's hard to keep secrets from anyone. I talk a lot. So I have been planning our engagement since the beginning of March when I was getting her ring made. Being with Kate she likes to plan things so I knew that I would have to plan something with her knowing but without knowing we were getting engaged. We talked about going on a day trip a couple of times to Oklahoma City just to get away from Tulsa from an evening. I immediately knew that that was my opportunity to try to get it done. After weeks of planning I knew I was going to get engaged on Friday April 2nd but I still didn't have the ring. I had a horse drawn carriage ride. planned and I had a photographer ready to go but still no ring. The funny part is I didn't get the ring until 15 minutes before leaving to Oklahoma city. We were already late leaving Tulsa but I had to stall so I can get the ring so i can propose to her. She wanted to change our reservations because she thought we were just going to dinner but i was like NO we will be fine & make it. We make it to OKC and check into our hotel at 5:20 and the proposal was scheduled to go down around 6. The plan was dinner was supposed to be at 6:30 and we was going to walk around Bricktown at 6 pm. So we leave our hotel at 6 and I was like "oh man look theres a horse drawn carriage lets take a ride". At this point I sounded very scripted and I'm sure she knew what was happening. We're on the carriage ride & we decided to pull over to the Botanical Gardens where I had photographer staged and ready to go. Our Carriage ride guy took pictures on phone and then I pointed out a beautiful object just west of us and then he gave a speech about how this place have a bunch of movies outdoors. Then he said look behind you and there I was down on one knee! Then the rest was history.
