Imagine this, a young Kate Gardner, minding her own at the very classy cocktail lounge, Yazzi’s, located off exit 16 on I-84, near Edgefield where Kate worked. While standing alone, contemplating the twists and turns of her life, Kate was approached by Craig, who was carrying his fresh-off-the-presses journeyman electrician card which he was (rightly) very proud of and excited to show to Kate. This was Kate and Craig’s first encounter. The night carried on with Craig showing Kate his journeyman’s card approximately every 10 minutes for the next hour or so, and Kate trying to share Craig’s enthusiasm over the journeyman’s card, without knowing how to tell this tall stranger that she had no earthly idea what a journeyman’s card was. As the night drew to a close, Craig escorted Kate out to her car, which happened to be parked next to his. Kate took one look at Craig’s car and exclaimed, “Is that a Subaru Brat??” Craig deftly, but gently corrected her by saying, “It’s a Subaru Baja, actually.” Their shared love of the sedan/truck mash-up, the mullet of cars, if you will, led to sparks being flown, numbers being exchanged, and you reading this love story. Welcome, friends.
