Kate was spending the summer living with her Aunt Winnie and Uncle Paul, and working at the beach. Early in the summer she noticed a cute guy in the driveway who worked for her uncle and happened to be her cousin PJ's best friend. They made eye contact that morning and it wasn't long before they officially met when PJ invited Kate out with his friends. Brandon got Kate's number that night and they met for drinks later that week. The two were inseparable the rest of the summer.
Despite the strong connection and love for one another, Kate and Brandon ultimately went their separate ways. The long distance combined with being in different stages of life left them both convinced it would be better to be friends. Over the years, the two remained in contact, with an occasional text here or there. Kate still came down to the beach every summer and the two would usually plan to catch up when she was in town. Despite their lives taking different paths - Kate moved to DC after graduating and joined the corporate world, while Brandon stayed local in Delaware - their strong connection never faded. This long distance friendship continued for nearly 10 years! Fast forward to 2020. Kate's parents had purchased a house at the beach and Kate decided to live down there to ride out the pandemic. Brandon was still in the area and the two started hanging out again. However, this time things were different. The circumstances were finally in their favor and it wasn't long before the two fell back in love.
On October 2, 2021, Brandon planned a date on the beach. When Kate (and their dog, Bella) walked down to meet him, he got down on one knee. It was the easiest question Kate ever answered and a truly perfect night.
