A Note About Kate + Brad

Written by the bride’s sibling, Tori Toney

I lived with Kate and Brad for several years at Eldridge. We were a tight little group, spending days watching Holey Moley and avoiding talking to Buzz for too long. We and our band of weirdo yet beloved animals had a lot of great times in that tiny bungalow. About every 3-5 days, Kate or Brad would ask some completely ridiculous questions like 'What if we were siblings but we just found out?' or tell an odd joke (too many for an example), just as I would start to raise my brow at what I had just heard, the other person would have one of the following responses: a) spend at least an hour hotly debating the scenario with a neurodivergent intensity that would thrill a panel of neuroscientists b) throw their head back and belly laugh with tears streaming down their face. It was in those moments over the years that i knew they would be together for a very long time. That their love was a long-lasting one. They understand each other in a way that others don’t. It is what makes them so special. I’m very lucky to have been there to witness someone have something so genuine with my sister.

Introducing The Greens

A note from Brad about our new last name

Green is the color of life emerging from the cold of winter to bring in the radiance of spring. A renewal from the icy doldrums to warm vibrant hues. Green is the growth that continues to blossom and share its beauty for everyone to experience. Kate and I are Green. We wanted to create something new for ourselves. To signify that we have done this in the way we have done everything: For ourselves and for our love. We are emerging. Not from a desolate place but instead from a place of eternal love that loves us back in kind. Our growth is towards a place that is ours, one that we are making our own. We are Green. When I look at all the important greens in our lives: my daughter Jade, Kate’s Emerald birthstone, a Green sapphire in her engagement ring, my Olive wedding band, Kelly and Midnight Green (Go Birds)…the more we looked, the more found. Our world is Green. A wise philosopher once said “it ain’t easy being green.” I may be new to it, but as long as I have the love of my life by my side nothing else comes easier. We are The Greens.
