It has been the setting for various family gatherings over the years, including Kate's grandfather's 80th birthday celebration, and her great grandparents went to dances in the club's ballroom in the 40s and 50s. Kate's mom remembers them talking about how glamorous their nights dancing in "the Tudor castle" were. A long time fixture on the North Shore of Chicago's social scene, the club can trace its beginnings back to 1897. The Tudor style is based on the renderings of the famous architect and civic planner, Daniel Burnham, who expanded the main clubhouse in 1929. _______________
