Andrew and Kate first met when they were in middle school, then proceeded to not speak to each other for the next ten years. This was not without attempts made on Andrew's part, who harbored a crush on Kate. He tried speaking to her on different occasions throughout the years, but she remained utterly oblivious and unaware. She thought this cute boy was talking to her because he needed advice and Andrew thought this was his way to get to know her and ask her out. They were both wrong. Fast forward to fall 2019, Kate had just moved 10 hours away to start graduate school in Washington DC. She got a notification from Facebook while she was in class. Andrew had slid into her Facebook DMs (direct message). His opening line, you ask? "Hey, how's graduate school going?" Kate thought the only reason Andrew was talking to her was because he also wished to attend graduate school and needed some advice. She remained in deep denial and oblivion for several months, until Andrew asked her out for coffee, when she was home for the weekend. On that coffee date Andrew and Kate spoke to each other about anything and everything. Eventually a barista informed them, they needed to leave because the shop was closing, and they were promptly kicked out. What followed was a long distance relationship spanning over two years, falling in love during a global pandemic, and getting engaged in the summer of 2021.
