Yes, it's true! Believe it or not, we met on Valentine's Day when we were 16 years old. We were both attending the Diocese of Buffalo Youth Convention at the Adam's Mark in Downtown Buffalo. As fate would have it, we were placed in the same discussion group for the weekend, and from the first meeting, our group leader couldn't get us to stop our discussions. Thanks, Cupid!
We went to see "Cinderella" for our first date. (We also went to JP Fitzgerald's for a fish fry before the date, as any Catholic kids would during Lent.) Thankfully, no shoes were lost in the making of this date. We also didn't lose the original ticket to the movie!
What a start to the New Year! Nick proposed on Friday, January 4th at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery - the location of our favorite Friday date-night. We took our first photo together as an engaged couple in front of our favorite painting: Jackson Pollock's "Convergence." If you've had the pleasure of seeing "Convergence," you may know that Pollock hid a match stick among the splatters of paint. It has been our tradition to race to find it every time we visit... but you could say another important "match" was made in the gallery that evening.
