"I'm a Transfer Student" was my tagline at my new college because I wanted everyone to know that I had already done the whole "Freshman" thing already. Coming from halfway across the U.S., you're bound to have some mutual friends...and I did! I searched out everyone who may have known someone at my previous college and one particular person just happened to be my future husband! I was sitting in the library, doing some homework when Vince walked up the stairway and, recognizing him from Facebook, I went up to him like a total spaz and said, "Hi! I'm Kate, I just wanted to say hi, you have some mutual friends and I wanted to ask how you knew them!" He probably thought I was crazy and after that brief introduction, he walked away and didn't look back. Flash forward two years later: I was a Junior/almost Senior when my sister, Allie, started to worry that I would never find Mr. Right. I was a little annoyed but curiosity got the best of me and I signed up for Catholic Match...yikes. I definitely didn't think I would find anyone and after being on it for a while, I was all ready to give up on it. Then came the weekend before Easter. I noticed I had a message in my inbox and thought "alright, just one more message and then I'm done." Lo and behold, Vince had messaged me. I totally recognized him from our first spastic meeting and messaged him back. We hit it off right away! In a flash, three weeks went by and I still had no idea where this was going. Unfortunately he was not looking for a long distance relationship at the time due to previous failed long distance relationships. I basically told him to have a nice life (but in a nicer way)... 3 Months later I get a message in my Facebook Messenger and it's from Vince. Hesitantly, I opened the message and we started talking again. A few days later he told me he was ready to give us a shot if I was willing! Two years later, he popped the question and now I can't wait to marry my very own Prince Charming!
When a woman that fills everyday with magic enters your life, you hold on tight to that woman and you marry her. Not to sound too sappy but that’s literally what everyday being with Kate McDonald is like…magical. Our story began in early 2019; after years of say no to online dating, I decided to give it a shot. There I found someone who I recognized but never truly knew: Kate McDonald. I always though she was cute but never had the guts to ask her out. I messaged her thinking she wouldn’t respond or at the very least we’d connect about shared JPC experiences and move onto other people. But she responded and we were talking all day and all night! We had so much in common! We we started talking about dating, we agreed not to commit to a long distance relationship and we both went our separate ways. 2 months past. I went on dates with other girls but I couldn’t get Kate out of my head. I was starting to think I made a mistake. In the middle of a late shift at AMC I decided to message Kate and see if she’d even talk to me. Thankfully she responded and to my delight, she was going to see TOY STORY 4! It was a sign!😂 I told her that I couldn’t stop thinking about her and that I made a mistake. After that we agreed and we decided to take it slow/long distance. A month later we got to go on our first in person date. I showed her Hollywood Boulevard, Amoeba Music Store, and we topped it off with a double date at Disneyland. She was just as much fun to be with in person as she was over the phone. The night ended with our first kiss in the bus line at Disneyland. It was, needless to say, a magical night. And everyday since with Kate has been magical. She’s the love of my life, my soulmate, my best friend, the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. I thank God that I took a chance on online dating, otherwise I wouldn’t have met Kate McDonald, the love of my life.
