To get to the island you will need to fly to Cancun and then take a car service to Chiquilá (2 hour ride). From Chiquilá there are ferries every 30 minutes to Holbox (30 min ferry). Most car services include pickup from the airport, ferry tickets, and a golf cart ride to your hotel. You can set this up with your hotel. Here is a list of Hotels and Airbnbs on the island. This island is very small and everything is in walking distance. You will not find any cars on the island. You can either take golf cart taxis, rent a bike, or walk. When Adrian and I visited Holbox most nights we would walk to the town and get dinner. We recommend staying on the north east side of the island. It is a little bit more private on this side. The wedding will also be on that side of the island. Most places except credit card but some places are cash only. We recommend getting cash out at the airport. Also, a lot of the hotels use an app called whatsapp to communicate with you while you are at the hotel.

Ground Transporation

To get to Holbox from Cancun you'll take ground transportation to the port of Chiquilá. The trip is 2 hours long. In Chiquilá, a ferry leaves every 30 minutes to the island. We recommend STP Caribe (click View below) to arrange your transportation for groups. If you are arriving at a similar time as other guests this is the cheapest way of getting there. They have vans for 6 or 11 people. The cost for the 6 people van is $339 USD round trip after taxes ($56 per person). The cost for the 11 people van is $484 round trip after taxes ($44 per person). You can also contact stp caribe for them to purchase the ferry tickets and taxi (golf cart) to your hotel in Holbox for $22 per person (or $44 round trip). If you want to book the ferry (https://holboxferry.com/9-hermanos/chiquila-holbox/) and taxi in holbox by yourself (there's a queue at the dock) you can do so as well, and it will be cheaper. If traveling alone or as a couple, it is recommended to book through your hotel's front desk.

Covid 19 Information

A negative Covid-19 test within 24 hours of your travel time will be required to re-enter the United States. 30 Minute test locations are available in each terminal of the Cancun airport (link below) at a cost of 290 mxn pesos ($14 USD). There are also some tests you can purchase in the US and take with you (requires online supervision, so you must have good internet connection) such as https://www.cityhealthuc.com . Check your airline's website to see which tests they accept.
