Diego and Kat first met at the Glendale Heights Target in September, 2021 where they both work. Kat was a new employee and Diego just transferred from a South Elgin Target location a month before Kat. Diego had been with Target for about five years at that point and he was a real Target star lol <3 Kat's first impression of Diego was "Man he is a very hardworking and dedicated man". He helped Kat with training at Drive Up area. He made Kat laugh since day one and made Kat feel so welcomed. He was so friendly and helpful everyday at work. They both became work buddies. What made their friendship even stronger was that they actually both just got out of long term relationships that gave them hard time. However the most important factor that played a role in them getting closer together is the fact that they share the same faith in Jesus Christ. Diego and two of their other work friends (Shout out to Brianna and Caleb btw!!) invited Kat to their church college group at Living Hope Church which now is Kat's and Diego's church for two years. Fast forward to their first date where they actually went to Chilies together for dinner after work. Funny story Kat was going to go to Chillies by herself at first after having a hard day. When Diego heard Kat talk about it with her work peers he stopped Kat by in the breakroom and asked if he can come along because "no one should eat alone" so obviously because Kat had like the biggest crush on him already, she said yes. At the end of the date, Kat felt butterflies in her stomach. Kat never had such great conversation with anyone in her life. Diego was such a great listener during the date and showed so much interest in learning more about Kat. Kat felt like someone actually cares about her. After that day Kat went to Vegas for a week and when Kat came back Diego invited Kat on an another date for a Boba Tea and once again they had so much fun and such amazing conversation. That was the day they both admitted that we really like each other. One of the first memories Kat has where she thought to herself, "I could picture marrying Diego" was their first vacation together in Wisconsin Dells. Of course, Diego points to a different memory as a particular highlight of their relationship. He says "Since the beginning I had a feeling you will be my wife" (He's the cutest) The proposal happened on June 9th, 2023 at Devil's Lake, Wisconsin. When Diego proposed to Kat she was flooded with tears, happiness, but also uncontrollable laughter. The idea of spending forever with Diego is incredible especially looking back at their past and how much they grew together. They truly worked hard almost two years to make each other grow and mature more as people and most importantly followers of Christ. Kat and Diego are both so grateful to you, their community, for their love and support. They can't wait to celebrate the wedding with you soon!
