Whidbey Island is an island west of Everett. You can hop on one of Washington's drive-on ferries from the city of Mukilteo and ride over to the island. From there, you can adventure on some beautiful hikes; take a drive around the island; explore the downtown areas and find your favorite fish and chips! The island also has kayak rentals, many opportunities to see wildlife and delicious coffee from Whidbey Island coffee. There are some great parks for kids to play and some wineries and breweries for the adults to enjoy as well.
Not gonna lie- we love a wine bar. This cute spot in Snohomish has great local and international wines. Head in, grab a glass and hang out in some comfy chairs for some great people watching (there's an excellent window).
This distillery in Everett is stellar-they have great snacks (they warm their bread and serve it with an incredible herb butter) and even better drinks. They also make very tasty mocktails for those who don't drink.
Great barbecue does exist in the northwest! We've enjoyed their food on a "research trip" to Snohomish. They also have locations in Monroe and Everett.
One of our favorite spots to eat in Snohomish-great fries, solid fried chicken and delicious salads. They also have a great beer and wine selection and are a great spot to catch a game.
This is a stunning garden in Everett. A great children's playground, beautiful walks (and art sculptures) and an incredible view of the Port of Everett and the sound. Pick up some food Scuttlebutt or Lombardi's (about a 5 minute drive) and enjoy a some great food in a location that truly represents the northwest.
