It is likely. They usually stop charging after Labor Day weekend, but if the weather is nice, don't be surprised if their is a Ranger at the booth. There are booths at the Bradford Entrance, Salamanca Entrance, and Exit 18 Entrance! The fee is $7 per car for the day and they do not accept cards. CASH ONLY. Some of you may know the backroads where you can avoid paying a fee! We love ASP so of course, we recommend paying the fee! :)
Nope! The park is separated into two sections but there is no charge to go between sections!
Drive through the park gate and veer left at the fork. Follow signs toward Quaker Area. Continue straight for approximately 6 miles. The Amphitheater will be on your right. There will be signs along the way.
Continue west on Interstate 86. Take Exit 18 for NY-280 toward Alleghany State Park. Turn left on to NY-280 South. Continue straight through tool both. Amphitheater will be on your left approximately 3 miles into the park.
Head east on Alleghany State Park Route 3. Turn left on to Alleghany State Park Route 1. Follow ASP Route 1 into Red House Area. Keep left at the fork. The pavilion will be approximately 1.5 miles on your right.
Exit 18 is a must shorter drive coming from that area!
Allegany State Park has so much for you to see! There are 18 different hiking trails of various difficulties and lengths as well as 18 miles of the North Country Trail running through this 64,800 acre park! There are also paved bike trails on Red House Area! Try to visit Thunder Rocks (Red House Area), Quaker Lake, Stone Tower (Red House Area), Bridal Falls (In between on ASP 1), Butterfly Meadows (Red House Area), Science Lake (Quaker Area), Bear Caves (Quaker Area), and many more! Make sure you stop at the Red House Gift Shop within the rustic Red House Administrative Building! There is also an educational museum within the Administrative Building that showcases the various species that live in the park at NO CHARGE! It can't be missed! You can also get a map of the park with other ideas of things to do in the park!
The Amphitheater has a large gravel parking lot!
Parking at Beehunter Pavilion is first come first serve to all guests in the park! There is a back up parking lot with tons of space should this be an issue! We recommend comfortable shoes because of this unpredictability!
Both the Amphitheater and the Pavilion are covered so nothing can ruin this special day!
We recommend having a comfortable pair of shoes handy in case the weather is unpredictable! You will be walking on all types of terrain: dirt paths, gravel, grass, and cement. There may be an occasional puddle! Please be sure to check the weather! :)
