We met while in college in Philadelphia. I was attending Temple University and my roommates and I decided to head out for a night at fun at a mutual friend's house (Ron's house). It was there that I stumbled upon a friendly Teletubby (no it was not Halloween) and we began talking about 90's nickelodeon cartoons. Then we danced and talked the rest of the night away. I discovered we had so much in common and that he also lived in Philly just on the other side of town attending Drexel University. We eventually exchanged numbers and we texted each other every day! After a month of texting back and forth we decided to go on our first date. It was my first date ever in my life so it wasn't the smoothest date. Even though it wasn't the best first date my Teletubby was persistent, so we tried a first date re-do and it was wonderful! We’ve been inseparable from that day on spending almost everyday together since.
It was our four year anniversary. We had already graduated and were living in NJ. At this point I knew a proposal was coming, I just didn't know when. I had my heart set on him doing it on our anniversary and it looked like it would be that way. We had planned a big day recreating all of our favorite dates. We celebrated the day in Philadelphia, the city we both loved and fell in love in. We started at brunch in our favorite spot and headed for ice skating at Penn's landing. I thought he would do it then, but still no proposal... We went to dinner at my favorite restaurant, where he told me he wasn't going to propose that night. We ate our dinner and headed home. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. We got to my parents' house to say goodbye to my grandparents (who were visiting from Florida). When we got there I said hello to all of my family members then my mom called me into the living room... Waiting for me were balloons, roses, and lit candles in the shape of a heart and JL on one knee. He knew I was on his scent and wanted to throw me off by telling me it wasn't going to happen. My grandparents were so thrilled to witness that moment and be a part of it. He made sure to do it with all my loved ones around which made the moment so much more special!
