General Information- Informacion General

Money: Colombia uses pesos as their main currency. The exchange varies but expect $3,000 COP for $1 USD. You can use debit and Credit Cards in most places. We recommend carrying $100,000 COP ($33USD) with you at all times. Cellphones: Check with you cell phone provider as you may be able to pay a small fee to use your data abroad. Safety: Medellin is a very safe place. It is very tourist-friendly city but with that being said, always be aware of your surroundings.

Flight

José María Córdova International Airport

The easiest airport to fly into is to Jose Maria Cordova. It's located in Rionegro which is about a 45 minute drive to Medellin. El aeropuerto más fácil para volar es a José María Córdova. Se encuentra en Rionegro, que está a unos 45 minutos en coche de Medellín.

Transportation- Transporte

The airport is about 45 minutes away from the city. You have a number of options. White Taxi: Can be found right outside the airport. Cost $70,000 COP ($23 USD) Uber: You can request a ride via the Uber app. Cost $55,000 COP ($18 USD). FYI: Uber is not technically “legal” in Colombia. We advise you to ride in the front seat of the car whenever possible so it does not look like you are using a ride-sharing service. Bus: The bus goes to the Mall of San Diego where you can take a taxi. Cost $9,000 COP ($3 USD) Shuttle: Some hotels provide shuttle service from the airport. Be sure to check with them! Scheduled Pick-up: We have a number of individuals whom we trust that will be able to pick you up at whatever time you arrive. Please feel reach out to Kat/Jhoana to help schedule these pickups.
