Sorrento is full of culinary gems, but if you're looking for a truly special dining experience, Il Buco is a must. Tucked away near Piazza Sant'Antonio, Il Buco is a Michelin-starred restaurant where values are treasured and new flavours are experimented. Il Buco is known for its inventive tasting menus and exceptional wine pairings. The intimate, chic space - set beneath a beautiful stone ceiling - creates the perfect atmosphere for an unforgettable meal. During our first trip here, we did the "Trust the Chef" tasting menu, and it quickly became our favorite dining experience, maybe ever. Every course was creative, surprising, and absolutely delicious. If you're in the mood to splurge on an unforgettable evening, this is the place. Just be sure to make a reservation in advance!
Sorrento is full of charming spots for food and coffee, but one place we kept going back to (almost daily!) was A'Marenna - Sorrento Bakery and Bistro. Located just across from our AirBnB during our stay, A'Marenna quickly became our go-to for the absolute best sandwiches in town. Freshly baked bread, quality local ingredients, and super friendly service makes this little spot a must for a quick and delicious bite. Whether you're grabbing something to take on a day trip or sitting outside with an espresso, you really can't go wrong here.
No trip to Sorrento is complete without some time by the sea, and Leonelli's Beach Club is one of our favorite spots for exactly that. Set on a series of wooden decks stretching out over the water, Leonelli's offers stunning views of Mt Vesuvius, crystal-clear swimming spots, and a laid-back atmosphere perfect for a sunny day. There's food and drinks available, and it's a great place to relax with a spritz and slice of pizza between dips in the sea. Heads Up: The Beach Clubs do not take reservations and fill up fast, so plan to arrive early if you want to grab a good spot. It's absolutely worth it!
Capri is easily accessible via public Ferry as well as small group boat tours. Capri, an island in Italy’s Bay of Naples, is famed for its rugged landscape, upscale hotels and shopping, from designer fashions to limoncello and handmade leather sandals. One of its best-known natural sites is the Blue Grotto, a dark cavern where the sea glows electric blue, the result of sunlight passing through an underwater cave (see tour below). In summer, Capri's dramatic, cove-studded coastline draws many yachts. Notable features include the harbours of Marina Grande and Marina Piccola, the panoramic Belvedere of Tragara, the ruins of Roman imperial villas such as Villa Jovis, and the towns of Capri and Anacapri, the latter situated higher up the slopes of Monte Solaro, the island's highest point.
The Blue Grotto is the most famous sight on Capri, but the long wait at the cave entrance means that many boat tours skip a stop here. With this small-group tour, set sail first thing in the morning to beat the crowds and cut wait times to a minimum. After taking in the grotto, enjoy a boat tour around the island with stops to swim and free time to explore on land.
Pompeii is a city in southern Italy’s Campania region overlooked by the active volcano at Vesuvius. It’s known for its ancient city, which was buried by the 79 A.D. eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Ruins here include the frescoed Villa of the Mysteries and the city's amphitheater. In town, the Catholic pilgrimage site of the Sanctuary of the Madonna of the Rosary has mosaics and a grand cupola.
It may be our wedding, but soccer season never ends! Chaplin's is a classic Irish Bar & Restaurant right in the heart of Sorrento. It is the perfect spot for watching soccer matches - we spent a few afternoons here cheering on Arsenal during our trip! They've got plenty of cold beers on tap, a perfect Guinness pour, plenty of screens, and a menu of hearty pub favorites if you're hungry.
For anyone looking to shake off jet lag or just have a fun night out, DanS VibeS is a must-visit. This lively karaoke bar has amazing energy, a huge selection of songs, and a crowd that's always ready to sing-along. During our trip, Chris sang 'Piano Man' here - and let's just say the whole place joined in. Whether you're brave enough to grab the mic or just want to cheer and sing-along from the sidelines with a cocktail in hand, DanS VibeS is guaranteed fun and a great way to kick-off (or close-out) your Sorrento nights!
If you're looking for a casual, no-frills, and absolutely delicious bite, head to Pizzeria Da Franco - widely considered home to the best pizza in Sorrento. This local favorite is known for cold beer and bench-style seating that makes it easy to grab a quick meal before sightseeing. It's perfect for a laid-back lunch or a late-night craving (open until 2am).
