We matched on hinge, but little did I know, I was working with her sister at the time with the Spurs. Katalina had insider info before we even met, and she still decided to meet me, even though she was 30 minutes late to our first date. I was a minute away from getting up off the bench I was sitting on in front of the restaurant and leaving. Lucky for her, I mean me, I stayed. I quickly forgot about her tardiness as we ate and had drinks while going through random date questions together that we looked up on her phone. The next day, the world went into COVID lockdown and our connection grew stronger through both of our love of binge watching. What started with Tiger King (early watchers here), continued to spending practically everyday together with a lot of shows/movies in between. Everything from trashy to classy and suspense to romance - just like us.
Evan and I met the old-fashioned way: on a dating app. While mindlessly swiping - as one does - I came across a guy in a cute sweater vest who happened to work where my sister worked at the time. I screenshotted the profile and sent it her way. She said he was real, he often sent emails to the wrong people, and he gave zero serial killer vibes so I went for it! When we went on our first date, it was the start of COVID panic. It was the Friday before the city first shut down; I remember feeling unsure if I should be out and about but I guess we do crazy things for love. We ended up spending the entire lockdown together, navigating uncertainty and fear together from day one. Since our first date, Evan has felt like home. He has never waivered, never faltered, and has always made me feel loved & seen. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with the sweater vest guy. <3 P.S. I was not *that* late for the first date!
