Kat and Karl met at the ripe age of 12 and 15, respectively, at a polocrosse tournament in Carrollton, Georgia. While it wasn’t love at first (second, third, or fourth) sight, the two were became friends that would see each other every couple of months for tournaments. As years of polocrosse ensued, Kat and Karl would see each other more often, and even competed in several international competitions together in New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia. In the fall of 2021, Karl invited Kat to a wedding in North Carolina which started the “will they, won’t they” get together conversation since the two lived in separate states. After a few starts and stops, Kat and Karl began officially dating in March of 2023, despite Kat being in North Carolina and Karl in Maryland. The distance didn’t prevent the two visiting each other at least twice a month, however, they both knew that they were ready to take the next step, so Karl moved in with Kat in December of 2023. After living together for almost a whole year on the dot, the two bought their first home complete with a barn and paddocks for their horses. Together, they spent nearly every day looking after their property, horses, and other pets. On a quick weekend trip to the beach with friends, the two took a sunrise walk by the water where Karl asked Kat to marry him.
