Katherine’s first message to Gavin on Bumble was “Friday night date?” She was intrigued by his interest in concerts, being a space nerd, and emojis of mountains and sports 🏔️🥾⛷️🚣🚤 He was attracted to her love of adventure, similar ability in math and science, their mutual interest in skiing, and most importantly also someone “trying to find their person.” Lucky for the both of them, Gavin accepted this first date for the following day. The two met at the Starr Hill Tysons Biergarten where they talked for hours and beat another couple in corn hole who definitely didn’t know it was the first date. Not even realizing it was closing time, Katherine and Gavin were some of the last on the rooftop on that beautiful September night.

Katherine knew that Gavin had purchased the ring of her dreams in May, and the ring sat proudly in plain view in their living room, keeping her on her toes for a few weeks. Ultimately, while on a trip to Katherine's hometown of Boston and after asking for her family's blessing, Gavin got down on one knee while on a walk on the Charles River Esplanade in June 2024. Even better, Gavin surprised Katherine by pre-ordering beautiful customized picnic gear and coordinating with her sister-in-law Hannah to setup the event, and Katherine’s parents who were able to watch the engagement from a few dozen feet away. It was a magical day!

Our wedding will be at the White Barn at Lucas Farm in Oakland, MD in the Deep Creek Lake area. We are so excited to celebrate with our family and friends and start this next chapter as husband and wife, to have and to hold from this day forward! #toGavinToHold
