The First Date

August 11, 2017 | Austin, TX

Eduardo and Kasturi met through mutual friends (by complete accident). It was serendipitous; they just happened to show up in the right places at the right times. After a few run-ins and weeks of lighthearted but genuine texts, interspersed with mediocre puns and dad jokes, Ed finally asked her out on a date to a chic gelato spot. Conversation came so easily that neither of them realized they had skipped over so much of the usual college first date questions, including where Ed was studying (80 miles away from her). When it came time to turn their spoons down and the crew started to clean up, they assumed this was an appropriate place to end the date. But after driving in circles around Kasturi's apartment, avoiding the inevitable, they decided to visit every spot in Austin that they could think of to prolong the magical night.

No Longer Long-Distance

March 15, 2020 | San Diego, CA

They had spent years commuting to every date, birthday, and Valentine's Day. San Diego finally became their new residence in early 2020 and they had to figure out just what to do in a brand-new town as roommates. Suddenly, they were both working from home and spending every moment of the day together. The relationship only grew stronger through their shared dedication and the addition of Truffle, their perpetually nervous rescue dog. After a few years of discovering every nook in San Diego, running trials to determine the best Pad Thai in downtown, and making many treasured friends, they soon started to realize they were shaping their future together.

The Proposal

April 30, 2022 | Rosarito, MX

Kasturi thought her friends were just flying in to San Diego for her birthday. The group walked across US/Mexico border for a day trip and found their way to the the buzzing beach town of Rosarito to celebrate. They started off by feasting on tacos (smart - Kasturi was more likely to say yes on a full stomach), then strolled towards the beach. As the girls started taking photos in the street, laughing and dancing, Ed knew in that moment that this was exactly where it was supposed to happen. He got down on one knee, and it was time to make it official.
