Alex and I met randomly on Thanksgiving weekend 2008. I needed a night out and Alex's band was playing at a local bar. I noticed this cute drummer from the dance floor. He must have noticed me too because he came to say hi at the end of the night! From that moment on we were inseparable. Alex was my touchstone through many months leading up to my divorce. He made me laugh, taught me how to play golf and always reminded me how to enjoy moments even during very difficult times. I captured his eye (and maybe his heart) during a time when he was still trying to figure out his next play in life. We may never have said I love you back then but we both knew we had something special, just at the wrong time. We went our separate ways in 2009, as friends. Fast forward to 2022, Alex was playing drums with Shawn Mullins on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The song he was playing, "Beautiful Wreck", was my theme song back in the day. He thought of me that day, and sent me a text. I was thrilled to see his name and responded right back. This time he was the one going through a divorce. I offered to be his touchstone, just like he had been for me. He took me up on it a few months later, and we met in Hopkinton, MA at a bar to say hello. Now here we are counting down the days to July 18th when we will become husband and wife! True love can find its way back even if it takes 14 years! We hope you can join us for this epic celebration!
