Sam and Kassy met at a country bar called InCahoots. Kassy went there often to go line dancing with her best friend, Linda. As the story goes, Sam spotted Kassy from across the bar and asked his friend, Colin, who that girl was with the blonde hair and amazing smile. Ironically enough, Colin knew Kassy as they worked together at Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar and made the introduction. Kassy and Sam were both enamored by one another when they met. Kassy was intrigued by Sam's sense of humor, his confidence and, of course, his rugged good looks. Sam was attracted to Kassy's personality, her smile and, of course, her beauty. They had a few dates here and there but didn't make things "official" until October 21, 2016. They've been inseparable ever since.

Sam planned a beach date for Kassy the morning of October 2, 2021. Sam isn't much of a morning person so that should have been a hint for Kassy, but it wasn't. Sam and Kassy drove out early Saturday morning to Mission Beach, San Diego with lattes in hand. This area of San Diego has always been special to Sam and Kassy as it was the location of many dates when Sam and Kassy first began their relationship. After parking, Sam put on his adventure pack (AKA fanny pack) which should have been another clue for Kassy..it was not. As they began their walk down the beach, Sam noted a large group of people (hundreds of people) running down the beach for a race. This immediately upset Sam, again, another clue for Kassy that she did not pick up on. While they walked, Sam was very involved in his phone, texting his buddies to come to the beach (or so he claimed). Little did Kassy know, he was coordinating the proposal with their friend James to capture the special moment. As the runners on the beach began to dwindle, Sam asked Kassy out onto the sand for a photo. She protested, not wanting to get sand in her shoes (I know, I know). Sam coerced Kassy onto the sand for said photo. While they stood their looking at the ocean, Sam and Kassy reflected on all the memories they had made in that very same spot. Sam stated "We've made a lot of really big decisions here. We may as well make another really big one" and got down on one knee to propose to Kassy. Shock and overwhelm came over Kassy as she quickly said YES!
