Los Cabos International Airport (SJD)
If you book directly with RIU they will provide transportation you just need to put in your flight info when booking the room. There are other transportation providers as well that you can book on your own: https://www.caboshuttleservices.com/ https://www.transcabo.com/ https://www.bookingdestinationservices.com/
No, there isn’t a block of rooms so book through the RIU website directly or on a third party site like Expedia. Kathy & Jim also have a family friend who is a travel agent and can help with your booking! See “Travel” section on website for her information.
Completely up to you! If you are in the wedding party we would recommend you come on June 27th and stay for however long you would like.
Your decision! If you don’t get a room with at least a partial sea view you could be walking a little ways to get to the pool area, but you would be closer to the lobby. The resort is large, but set up nicely so you should be able to get anywhere you need to go within a 5-7 minute walk.
No, but you have to stay within the RIU “family” of resorts. There are 3 RIU resorts right next to each other - RIU Baja California (adults only and new resort), RIU Santa Fe and RIU Palace. People that are staying at RIU Baja California and RIU Palace can go back and forth between all the resorts if they want, but people staying at Santa Fe can’t go to different resorts without paying for a day pass, so if you choose to stay at Santa Fe you will have to pay for a day pass to come to the wedding.
About 45 min to an hour depending on if you have to wait for your transportation service. I would definitely grab an overpriced beer at the bar outside of the airport while you wait and one for the road.
After landing in Cabo you will go through Immigration. Make sure you fill out the form they give you on the plane before going up to the immigration agent. Have your passport ready when going up to the agent. They will typically ask you why you are coming to Mexico and how long you will be staying. The line at immigration can vary depending on how many planes are landing at one time. Next you will go to the baggage claim area and get your bags. You will then go through customs - this is where you will need the form you filled out on the plane. They will have you push a red button to randomize if your bags need to go through an additional screening process. When exiting the airport there will be a lot of people asking if you need a taxi or they might try to pull you to the side and get you to buy excursions, I would just ignore everyone and say “no thank you” until you get out of the doors. On your transportation voucher it should tell you what umbrella your transportation company is under and walk directly towards them and they will ask for your name. The transportation providers will also have a sign on them saying what company they work for. Read the fine print on your transportation voucher for specific instructions.
You should be booking a round trip ride for transportation and will have to put in your flight information for your departure flight as well. The transportation companies like to make sure you have plenty of time to get to the airport and get through security so they typically pick you up 3 hours or more before your departure time. 72 hours prior to your departure I would get in touch with your transportation company to confirm details. If you booked transportation through the resort - they have a section where the transportation providers hang out during the day, 72 hours prior to departure confirm your details with them at the resort. If you only booked transportation to the resort, you can get a taxi from the resort to the airport the day of, but I am unsure of what pricing would be. I know it’s approximately $14 to get to downtown Cabo San Lucas from the resort and that ride is only 12 minutes, so a taxi could be very expensive.
Unfortunately we have a limited number of people allowed at the wedding. We would love to have everyone be apart of our special day, but the resort only allows a certain number of people so please only bring who is listed on the invitation. (We know a lot of our family and friends have kids, however, children count towards our number of people we are allowed to have).
Pack whatever you would normally bring on a beach vacation. I would also bring a couple nice outfits for dinner on or off the resort. Also, bring some cash, especially smaller bills, to tip the bartenders and waiters, it’s not required but it definitely goes a long way. Also, smaller pool floaties are allowed as long as you can blow them up yourself.
As with going anywhere definitely be aware of your surroundings, but it is safe to go off the resort and explore. The area down by the Marina has great night life and restaurants.
We have specific things planned for the wedding party and immediate family. While you’re in Mexico if you want to explore and do excursions please do! The only thing we have planned is the wedding on Friday, June 30th. To book excursions you can do it online or wait until you’re at the resort and book (might be more expensive to book at resort). There are also vendors on the beach that can set up excursions for you, but just be smart and make sure you aren’t being scammed.
Cabo in June will be warm so dress lightly and comfortable. Make sure you can drop it low and dance the night away in whatever you wear 💃🏼
Please don’t have your phones out during the ceremony. We have a photographer that will be taking photos and we can send you some once we receive them if you would like! We want everyone to be engaged in the ceremony and not worrying about capturing a picture. However, at the reception if you want to take pictures go ahead! But we will also have a photographer there to capture the whole evening.
Not at all! While we would love for everyone to come, we understand this is an expensive trip, so don’t feel bad if you can’t make it. We just ask that you RSVP promptly so we can give the resort an accurate headcount!
