Shaun and Kassey were introduced to eachother at the airport on the way to Hawaii to celebrate the wedding of Shaun's brother Casey to Kassey's friend Kaylee. Travel was still quite complicated at that time because of COVID, Casey was overwhelmed trying to make sure everyone had their travel info and made the correct flights so Kassey offered to take care of Casey's dad and brother while he organized the wedding party. When everyone finally arrived at the rental house in Kona, Kassey, being the stubborn and independent girl she is, quickly declined Shaun's chivalrous offer to help lift her abundance of luggage up the ominous flight of stairs. This resulted in little interaction between the two for most of the weekend until Shaun 'forgot' to use sunscreen. Anywhere. In Hawaii. When Kassey saw the painful burns and blisters on Shaun's feet, she insisted on being in charge of his aloe treatments. This even meant standing up to airport security on the return flight when they tried to confiscate said aloe because it exceeded 3oz! With eternal gratitude, Shaun decided he had to keep Kassey in his life. There may have been a hammock and oceanside mai-tais, and some ice cream dates involved, but as they say, the rest is history.

Kassey was in a class all day on that Saturday; Kassey's daughter (Analeigh) and Shaun were talking about how Shaun should propose and decided to go 'look' at rings. A few hours later, with ring in hand, Analeigh convinced Kassey to meet them for dinner where she (Analeigh) and Shaun first met, at the Minsky's Pizza in the northland in Kansas City. Halfway through dinner, Shaun asked Kassey if she would marry him and presented her with a beautiful emarald ring designed by Shaun and Analeigh. Kassey obviously said YES! so here we are, ready to say yes forever, with all of you!
