We were both working for Southern Tier Brewing & Distilling Company when happenstance allowed us to cross paths. Zeb was required to make a trip to Lakewood, NY to complete his onboarding training at the Brewery's flagship location. Part of Zeb's onboarding included a tour of Southern Tier's Distillery, and low and behold, the tour was led by me! While our paths crossed briefly, there was an instant connection. Over the next few months we stayed in touch as I was often visiting Charlotte. We were finally able to make a trip line up in May of 2018. We shared our first night together at the US National White Water Center and followed up with a round of Top Golf the next night. The rest was history. We spent our first Christmas together that year in New York City and decided this was worth forever. I moved down to Kannapolis, North Carolina in August of 2019 with Rye in tow. We share a wonderful home full of love and dog hair to this day.
Well if this wasn't a surprise! We had booked a trip to Destin, Florida with friends months and months in advance. After a long 9 hour drive in the car, we arrived to our Airbnb hungry and thirsty. Zeb kept pushing us to go take a walk on the beach before we went to dinner however I get "hangry" with the best of them and asked to go to dinner first. When he gave into my hunger, he asked me if I planned to shower. Shower?! I was shocked he asked this as this has never been a question before but my naivety got the best of me and I said "absolutely not, who is going to see me in Destin ever again?" I should have showered... We show up to a beautiful seaside restaurant for dinner and as we were waiting for our table, we were watching the sunset on a dock. As I was taking the picture of the sunset I turned around and he was on one knee. If you've seen the video you know I was speechless and all I could muster out was, "DOES MY MOM KNOW?!". I obviously said yes! We celebrated the rest of the night and week with some of our closest friends and it's a special memory we all share to this day.
