Our story begins in college at NIU, where we first crossed paths when Kassandra was a freshman and Rene a sophomore. While we were just friends throughout most of our time at school, we spent countless hours talking, laughing, and hanging out together. Even though we weren’t romantically involved back then, our bond only grew stronger as the years passed. It wasn’t until the end of Kassandra’s senior year that things took a turn. After graduation, we finally decided to give dating a try. From there, everything fell into place. Since then we moved in together, got two sweet dogs, and traveled to many places. Every step of the way has been filled with laughter, love, and deep connection. The proposal was a complete surprise—an intimate moment we’ll always cherish. It was the perfect reflection of what we’ve built together: something simple yet incredibly meaningful. What makes our relationship so special is the foundation of friendship we built long before anything romantic began. We’ve always known each other deeply, and that understanding and comfort is what makes us stronger every day. We're excited to continue this journey together, surrounded by the people who have supported us from the start.
