We met at South Bay Ford, where one of us worked as a service cashier and the other as a service technician. After many quiet conversations at the cashier counter, we slowly began getting to know one another. Eventually, a phone number was exchanged and plans were made to go out that weekend. But he couldn’t wait—he was too excited to spend time with her and asked her to hang out the very next day instead. That first date was boba, and the beginning of something easy and sure. A few weeks later, we visited Catalina Island, where we wandered through museums, explored the island, talked for hours, and watched the sun set—hand in hand. Nearly four years later, we returned to that same place, where he proposed in the same beautiful, intimate way. From then on, it was always us.
