You will need to book a ferry beforehand to get to this island. There is a brewery on the island.
Maine State House
It is free to tour the state house and you can even bang the gavel. We live .5 miles from the state house. The Capital Park is another nice place to visit.

Baxter State Park
Katahdin, the tallest mountain in Maine is located in this state park.
Ganneston Park
A beautiful trail in our backyard. There are 2 overlooks of Augusta on the trail. The trail will get you from Augusta to Hallowell.
Bateau Brewing
Great brewery outdoors in downtown Gardiner- also the city where Kasia teaches.
Small Falls
Very scenic waterfall. You can swim in it or hike around it. It is near a town called Rangeley (another beautiful town in Maine).
L.L.Bean Flagship Store

Penobscot Narrows Bridge
It is the tallest public bridge observatory in the world.

Delicious beer and food brewed and cooked by a Friar.

Belfast
A wonderful port town in Maine with cool bridges. The oldest shoe store in the USA is located there.
Boothbay Harbor
Boothbay Harbor is a popular destination for kayaking, sailing, and yachting. There are lots of gift shops there too.
Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul
Founded in 1870. The only basilica in Maine and one of the largest churches in New England. It is located in Lewiston, the second largest town in Maine. There are lots of refugees from Somalia, Africa there.
Owls Head Lighthouse
Beautiful lighthouse near Rockland, ME. If you plan to visit this light house- make sure to stop at Rockland café to get a lobster roll (most affordable price in Maine)
The Stephen & Tabitha King Foundation
Located in Bangor, ME (very artsy town- with a delicious bagel shop- Bagel Central) you can see Stephan King's house.
Quebec City
Only 4.5 hours from Augusta, ME.
