Main street is the "adult" part of Ann Arbor, with many shopping and restaurant options. Some of our favorites are (note that they're not all directly ON Main Street): 1. Frita Batidos for Cuban street food 2. Grizzly Peak Brewing Company for burgers 3. Jolly Pumpkin for pizza and sour beer 4. Fleetwood Diner for post-bar or morning diner food. Open 24 hours! 5. Bill's Beer Garden for an outdoor beer garden. Outside food welcome! 6. Blank Slate Creamery for unique ice cream flavors
South University is the "college" part of Ann Arbor. Some of our favorites are: 1. Pizza House for late-night pizza. Don't miss out on their feta bread! 2. Good Time Charley's for fish bowls (mason jar cocktails) and bar food 3. Brown Jug or Blue Leprechaun (fondly known as "Blue Lep") for a classic college bar atmosphere 4. Ricks if you're feeling like partying with the college kids!
East Liberty is known for its many restaurants and vintage shops. Some of our favorites are: 1. Aventura. This is one of Kasia's favorite places for tapas, paella and a sangria 2. MASH for an underground whiskey bar 3. Afternoon Delight for homemade muffins and breakfast food 4. Jerusalem Garden for Middle Eastern food 5. Amadeus for Central European (Polish, Austrian and Hungarian) food. Beautiful setting, with live music on weekend evenings and delicious desserts
Although Zingermann's takes the spotlight for Ann Arbor deli food, Kasia's favorite spot is Amer's on South State Street. The #5 (Eastsider) with hot corned beef is her go-to order!
"The Arb", as Ann Arborites call it, has trails, a nature walk, a beautiful garden and large lawn--the perfect place to explore if you have some extra time.
The Law Quad has many beautiful, historic buildings on the University of Michigan campus, including the Law Library. This is great starting point for a stroll through campus. If you're in the mood for a sangria and nice outdoor seating, Casa Dominick's is right next door! Other areas to check out on campus are The Diag (don't step on the M!), UMMA and the U of M Museum of Natural History.
If you have some extra time, Argo Park is a great place to rent a kayak, canoe or tube and explore the Huron River.
