It is a must!!! Our favorite spot!!! It has the most amazing views of the Caldera. Franco’s bar plays classical music exclusively. You need to go early just before the sunset to find a sun lounger. The mix of the classical opera music and the caldera views is magical. It serves champagne, cocktails and wines. Also delicious food!
Walking from Fira to Oia is one of Santorini’s highlights. Hike along the rim of a caldera, explore the towns of Oia, Imerovigli, Firostefani, and Fira, and enjoy some of the most beautiful views of the islands. If you go the entire distance, you will walk just over 10 km (about 6 miles). The walking path is a mix of paved, pedestrian streets and dirt hiking trails. It’s a hilly walk with little shade, however the weather should be mild in May and it is not a difficult hike. Along the way, you also have the option to make a detour out to Skaros Rock. This is an outcropping of rock located near Imerovigli. If you add this on to the walk, it will add another 45 to 60 minutes to the hike.
This harbor has great sea side tavernas and also one of the best places to swim in Santorini if you love cliff jumping! It is right below Oia village. You just need to walk down 300 steps in order to reach this tiny port or ride a donkey instead! Whichever you choose, make sure to wear comfortable shoes. Trust us you will love it!! Fun Fact: One of the scenes of "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" was filmed here.
Do not leave from Santorini unless you have experienced a boat tour! Its greatest asset is that you can face the impressive caldera and the picturesque villages on its top from the sea. In addition, you will swim in the crystal-clear waters of the most popular beaches of the island, like Red Beach and White Beach, as well as in the therapeutic waters of the volcano’s hot springs. We are planning to organize a boat tour for our guests on Monday, May 23rd (details and pricing to follow).
The Best Santorini Wineries: Santo Wines (Pyrgos) – It has a large shop filled with wines and local food specialties. Fantastic views of the cliffs and caldera. Venetsanos Winery (Megalochori) – Similar views as Santo but a little smaller, with a little more charm. Gavalas Winery (Megalochori) – My favorite winery on Santorini. Small, friendly, intimate (but hard to find if you’re driving on your own). Boutari Winery in (Megalochori) - A pioneer in winemaking, Boutari is Greece’s most historical wine company, dating back to 1879. Art Space Winery (Exo Gonia) – A spellbinding mix of wine, caves, and art. The owner guides you around the property and explains its history with a thick Greek accent. Very cool. Domaine Sigalas (Oia) – A small winery a 10-minute walk from a bus stop on the Fira-Oia bus route. It has wine tastings with appetizers from March to November. Koutsoyannopoulos Wine Museum (Vothonas)
