The first time I remember meeting Gabriel was on the CHS football field. We were resetting between reps and I mentioned that I might simply die if we did the rep again. I hear a deep and mysterious voice behind me say “no” and I can’t remember a time I haven’t talked to him since then.
We went out for our anniversary dinner at Tellers and I was completely anxious the whole time we ate. I had convinced myself that there was no way he would propose that night since he was still in college and we didn’t live together, etc. So I began asking questions about why he hadn’t proposed and if he was going to, how would he do it. Little did I know, it was already set up at the house. At the end of dinner, we both went to the bathroom. I checked my friend’s location because I had also convinced myself that if he was going to propose, she would be there to see it. She was not near me or my house so I told myself to stop being crazy and it wasn’t going to happen. We left Tellers and went home. On the way home we talked about possibly going on a trip and Gabe had me look up a bunch of different things we could do on said trip. This served as the perfect distraction so I wouldn’t see the setup outside on the porch. When we get out of the car, Gabe runs inside really quickly. I wasn’t too worried about it and gathered my things to go inside. When I got inside I noticed Luna (Mylieh’s dog) was wearing her little pink sweater. I greeted her and told her that she was so cute, then I asked her where Gabe was. Then I kept walking into the house and noticed the pantry was closed, which is not normal for our household. Then I saw that the curtains were closed, which was also irregular since it was only about 8 pm. At this point I was asking Luna where the family was and why it was so quiet. That’s when I heard the wind come through the sliding glass door. It hit me that all of my doubt was for no reason and this was it. I took a deep breath and pulled back the curtain to reveal Gabriel, kneeling on the ground next to the fire pit with “marry me” in little marquee letters and a small bouquet of roses. Of course I immediately started crying and I don’t even know if I actually said yes, but we all knew that was going to be the answer.
